LOLLYPOP SHOVED UP MY ASS by Isabelle Guns
2009 ISSUES
I’ve been writing the following zine for over 10 years now and unlike most ‘zines I choose not to focus on independent music. I feel that there are too many indie ‘zines out there and with the low distribution of ‘zines, although the intention is good to give exposure to indie bands, I find it unnecessary to be a zine like everyone else. I do focus on mainstream music that I listen to, however, unlike most media magazines I do not apologize or compromise for the opinions I have on some bands. Because I’ve done this ‘zine since 1993 most of the bands I used to write about that were indie are now mainstream. I don’t accept this as an excuse to abandon a band that I’ve supported since the ground up just ‘cause they’ve scored a major record deal. I’m not one of those hypocrites that screams “sell out” and would rather celebrate a band’s success no matter what level, indie or commercial.
Each cover is hand crafted using mixed media such as scrap book material, foil embeds, glitter, stickers, cello etc. The cost is $1, however, I prefer to do trades as I’m always interested in the writing of others.
